CAROl’S CORNER OF THE COSMOS

Carol Lutsinger, the founder of the South Texas Astronomical Society (STARS), is a retired educator with 40 years of teaching and inspiring students in Brownsville, Texas. Her passion for sharing the wonders of space and astronomy has always extended beyond the classroom. Since 1998, she has been the author of the popular “Stargazer” column for The Brownsville Herald. In the past five years, she has also brought her expertise to readers in Harlingen, contributing to both the online and print editions of a local newspaper.

Carol is also one of the original NASA Solar System Ambassadors, a role she has held since the program’s inception when it was known as the Galileo Ambassadors through NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). This elite group of volunteers is dedicated to sharing the latest discoveries and space science with communities across the country, a mission Carol has embraced with enthusiasm and expertise throughout her distinguished career.
